GAFCO's
Vision

GAFCO's
overriding business focus is:
-
to be a leading supplier of quality foodstuffs in Ghana, and
to export semiprocessed and processed agricultural products
to West Africa, to West and East Europe;
- to
produce quality products, specially adapted to market needs
and to assure a consistent supply of these products to consumers;
-
to achieve these goals through the use of an integrated agricultural
processing strategy developed and pioneered by its majority
owner, Industrie-Bau Nord AG; and
- through
the use of an integrated strategy combined with favorable labour
rates and local raw material prices, to implement a competitive
pricing strategy and to increase profits and the return to shareholders
by adding value to low margin by-products.
GAFCO's second level of complimentary goals include the following:
-
to meet the nutritional needs of Ghanaians by producing food
products in three primary food types ( starches, proteins and
fats);
-
to contribute to the development of the agricultural sector
in Ghana in order to move the country away from import dependence
in primary foodstuffs; and
-
as a result of the above, to contribute to the economic development
of the country by creating employment, reducing the need to
use foreign currency for food imports and creating new eco-
nomic stimulus by supporting the development of the agricultural
and the agro-industrial sectors.
GAFCO's master development plan is to move simple integration
of grain mills, fish canning and edible oil mills into full integration
to include the production of bread, the manufacture of starch,
and the creation of a farm service organization to develop local
agriculture.
